Craig Bannister 

Director

Craig first started his accountancy career in 1987 as a trainee accounts clerk at Birdsall & Bennett, Chartered Accountants in Leeds. It is here where Craig and Ian first met and were colleagues for a number of years until Ian left to set up his own practice.

 

During his time with Birdsall and Bennett, Craig progressed to the position of accounts senior and completed his studies and qualified as an Accounting Technician with the AAT in 1998 (Craig became a Fellow member of the AAT in 2004).

 

In 2000 he took up a new post with Jonathan S White & Co, Chartered Certified Accountants in Leeds as an accounts/audit manager. Whilst working there he completed his studies and qualified as a Taxation Technician with the ATT in 2002 (Craig became a Fellow member of the ATT in 2013).

 

In 2004, Craig then progressed to the position of Partner at Jonathan S White & Co and managed a portfolio of clients until April 2016 when he left to set up the new practice of Bannister Prentice Ltd with Ian. 

 

Craig has over 30 years’ experience in all areas of accountancy services, including financial and management accounting, taxation, payroll, business planning and cash flows, accounting software, and company secretarial matters. His speciality is in financial accountancy and taxation.

Ian Prentice

Director

Ian first started his accountancy career at the age of 16 as an articled clerk in King Hope and Co a firm of chartered accountants in Stockton, Cleveland. He later switched his studies to the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

 

In 1977 he took up a new post with Revell Ward, Chartered Accountants in Huddersfield as a senior audit clerk. Whilst working there he completed his studies and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1979. Although mainly working in public practice he was also seconded for a period of 2 years to work for the EC, as part of a task force monitoring steel deliveries by the then British Steel.

 

In 1984 he moved to Birdsall and Bennett, Chartered Accountants in Leeds as an audit manager where he remained until 1993 when he left to set up his own practice, based also in Leeds. He built up a broad portfolio of clients over the period up to April 2016 when he started the new practice of Bannister Prentice Ltd with Craig. 

 

Ian has over 40 years experience in all areas of public practice including financial and management accounting, taxation, payroll, business planning and cash flows, accounting software, and company secretarial matters. His speciality is in management accountancy, working closely with clients to provide accurate and timely management information.
